Dr Peter James Stark

Dr Peter Stark is a specialist anaesthetist in private practice with East Melbourne Anaesthesia, providing anaesthesia care across multiple Melbourne private hospitals. He also holds public appointments as a visiting medical officer at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital as well as at Austin Health.
Dr Stark completed his MBBS (Hons) at Monash University and subsequently undertook further postgraduate study, completing a Masters of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) through the University of Sydney. He undertook specialist anaesthetic training at St George Hospital in Sydney and completed the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) training program. During this time, he gained experience in paediatric anaesthesia at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He later completed fellowship training at Wollongong Hospital and Austin Health, with additional subspecialty focus in regional anaesthesia (ultrasound-guided nerve blocks) and simulation-based education.
His clinical interests include anaesthesia for ENT and ophthalmic surgery, complex airway management, regional anaesthesia techniques, as well as upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery. In addition to these areas of interest, his practice spans a broad range of surgical specialties, including general, orthopaedic, plastic, obstetric, thoracic, vascular and endoscopic surgery.
Dr Stark is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA). He participates in the ANZCA Continuing Professional Development program and maintains an active interest in education, quality improvement, and high standards of patient care.
